E-invoicing in Poland postponed to 2023

Mandatory e-invoicing in Poland that was originally scheduled for 2022 will be postponed until 2023.

Extension on Polish e-invoicing

Poland, like other countries such as Spain, Hungary, Italy, and Portugal, is increasingly introducing tax technology obligations on taxpayers. E-invoicing will eventually replace the SAF-T return in Poland and will be mandatory for all businesses starting in 2023. A voluntary period is set to take place starting in October 2021. We expect more detailed information to be released when the implementation date gets closer, and we will continue to monitor for any further updates on the matter.

How will the e-invoicing work in Poland?

The electronic invoices will be submitted to the KSeF platform. Upon receiving the invoices, they will be stamped digitally with the time and notifications will be sent regarding the status of the invoices. Furthermore, all invoices will be able to be located in the KSeF platform and downloaded for up to 10 years. The system will be very similar to the SDI reporting in Italy.

Taxpayers who utilize e-invoicing will receive the added benefit of receiving their VAT credit repayments in a more timely manner – the expected turnover is 40 days.
