Software available for Italian spesometro

The Italian tax authorities just published a java-based software to produce the files required in the new quarterly spesometro.

This year Italy introduced important changes to their VAT reporting obligations. There is a new quarterly VAT return and new frequency for the spesometro, which becomes quarterly as from this year. The black-list return was abolished but quarterly and monthly VAT payments remain unchanged. As it happened in other countries, companies will need to adapt their ERP system to comply with the new spesometro requirements. This return is a listing of invoices that must be reported on a quarterly basis. To make things easier, the authorities just published a software to produce the file required to be submitted at the website of Agenzia delle Entrate.

As part of the transition rules introduced, this year the quarterly spesometro will be allowed to be submitted on a six-month basis. The first semester covers the period 1 January to 30 June and must be reported by 16 September at the latest. The second semester covers the remaining year and it is due by 16 February 2018.
