Marosa Joins Wolters Kluwer: A New Chapter for Our Clients, Our Team, and Tax Technology

Marosa is joining Wolters Kluwer. Founder Pedro Pestana on what the acquisition means for clients, the team, and the future of global indirect tax technology.

share

Today I am proud to share the biggest milestone in our history: Marosa has been acquired by Wolters Kluwer, a global leader in professional information, software solutions, and services.

From a London flat, to Vigo, to the world

I started this business in a small flat during my final years in the UK. It all moved slowly at the start, with me building content on the website for fun and hopefully creating some visibility. Soon, I got my first client, then a second one, then employees, a small office and then I moved back to Spain to continue growing the business in my home city.

We went from manual Excel files to processes, to software, to a global tax technology offering VAT compliance and e-invoicing. Before I knew it, the team was running daily work independently.

Why Wolters Kluwer?

Wolters Kluwer is a European-headquartered company that shares our values and global approach. Marosa will become part of the Corporate Performance & ESG division, whose portfolio of solutions complements ours very well and opens clear opportunities for mutual growth. Within that division, the Corporate Tax unit and its CCH SureTax solution for US sales tax and VAT determination are the perfect fit for Marosa: together, our VAT compliance and e-invoicing capabilities and their indirect tax technology will accelerate the development of a truly global indirect tax platform.

Our team in Vigo and across Europe now becomes part of a much larger global organisation, with all the resources, career opportunities, and shared expertise that this brings, while continuing to do what we do best: living and breathing European VAT for our clients.

What this means for our clients

In one word: continuity. And then more.

  • Your points of contact remain the same. The team you work with today is the team you will work with tomorrow.
  • VATify continues to operate, evolve, and improve. Our product roadmap remains firmly in place, including our ongoing investment in e-invoicing coverage.
  • Our Global Centre of Excellence remains in Vigo, alongside our presence across Europe.
  • Over time, you will benefit from the combined strength of Marosa and Wolters Kluwer: broader geographic coverage, deeper integrations, and a wider portfolio of tax solutions.

Nothing changes in your day-to-day experience with Marosa.

If you have any questions, your usual Marosa point of contact will be happy to help.

Thank you

I want to thank our clients, who trusted a young company with one of the most sensitive functions in their business. I want to thank Aquiline, whose partnership over the past two years helped us accelerate our growth. And above all, I want to thank our Marosa team for their hard work and their immense dedication over all these years. They built everything this announcement represents.

See you on the other side,

Pedro Pestana
