VAT registrations in Belgium for Amazon sellers
VAT registrations in Belgium for Amazon Sellers storing goods in Belgium. Amazon opens a new warehouse in Belgium, increasing the logistics offering to their Sellers.
Amazon Sellers will need a VAT registration in Belgium if they store goods in the new distribution center opened by Amazon in Belgium. The new Amazon distribution center in Belgium will receive goods from other big Amazon Logistics centers like France and Germany. You can find the news here.
While goods are moved from one European country to another, the ownership of the goods remains with the Seller who joined Amazon’s logistics program, and consequently, it is the Seller who must meet the VAT compliance obligations.
For example, while moving stock from one Amazon warehouse to another, the Seller is performing what is called deemed intra-Community supplies and acquisitions, both in arrival and dispatch countries. These transactions must be reported in the countries involved. Also, when storing goods in those distribution centers, other taxable transactions are performed from the country of dispatch, such as domestic supplies B2B and B2C, intra-Community distance sales, etc.
You will find more information about taxable transactions for VAT registration in Belgium in our manual.
